History

In 2009, a small group of Florida concerned citizens came together to ensure that Florida’s electoral and political system embodies and represents a pluralistic, competitive, and representative democracy. Concerns included ties between wealthy special interests and local and state elected officials; uncontested incumbent-dominated elections; lack of third party ballot access; policy agendas that are unresponsive to voters’ needs and concerns; and voter disenfranchisement.

The Florida Initiative For Electoral Reform was incorporated in August of 2010, as a non-profit corporation in the State of Florida.
